Music
Subject Overview
Music at East Park aims to throw open the doors to a world of Musical genres and experiences that will inform a lifetime of enjoyment. From the academic rigour of appraising, composing and performing to understanding their own tastes and preferences, we will ensure that children’s learning opportunities are enriched by practical experiences and live performances.

East Park values everyone’s musical preferences and performances. Music is with us through all parts of our lives and can bring us great happiness, and our values encourage us to explore the range of emotions that make us laugh, cry and everything in between in a way that helps us understand these responses on an academic as well as human level.
Ensemble work is key to musical understanding and progression, and this embodies the teamwork of our values as children develop the patience and understanding to create inclusive pieces and perform in a way that celebrates all talents. The discipline of a performance is also a vital part of teamwork. In combination, therefore, respect, teamwork and happiness deliver achievement for all in Music at East Park.

To enable and support the understanding, children are exposed to high-quality music teaching which empowers students to become: successful learners who enjoy learning and therefore make rapid and sustained progress, with all children achieving the very best.
